| High Council of Justice Announces Competition in Media and the Arts 2012 Golden Gavel Award |

On April 10, 2012 the High Council of Justice of Georgia (HCOJ) presented first ever Golden Gavel Award to recognize products in Media and the Arts published or presented during the preceding year that are exemplary in fostering the Georgia public’s understanding of law and the court system. Eligible categories include print (books, newspapers, magazines, documentaries, drama and literature), radio, television, website blogs, and the plastic or performing arts. With the purpose of assessing the submitted works, the judging committee will be formed and composed by a member of the HCOJ, one judge, one lawyer, one media professional, and one JILEP staff member. The committee will make decision considering quality of the production/writing, analysis of the judiciary and novelty and importance of the selected topic. All entries must be aired, published, or performed from 1 January to 30 June 2012, and submitted to the HCOJ by 5 p.m. on June 30, 2012. 2012 Golden Gavel Award winners will be announced at the Annual Golden Gavel Awards Ceremony in December, 2012.
